The team wish to thank Arjun Gill (Little India) for the sponsorship for our team uniforms. The clothing made us feel and look like a team, but at times we did not perform like one, although we showed a more consistent improved effort from the previous season.
This was due to the solid core of players including newcomers, Ben Jury and Dan Witting, both from the UK, and Jason King an indoor cricket player. These three players added strength to the batting and bowling with Jason taking out the batting award, and Ben the runner up, while with the ball, Jason shone leading the wicket taking tally and depriving Craig Buchan of yet another handle on the trophy he has had a dominant hold on for some years.
Ray Steele received the fielding trophy for his commitment behind the stumps, while the team personality award went to Craig Buchan.
The winning Chairmans’ Cup team consisted mainly of Third A players, along with two Senior and two third B members and a president’s team representative.
We all had an enjoyable year until 22 February when the season came to an abrupt end caused by Mother Nature.
Winter well and remember it is not that long until you will all be getting out those whites again! (sorry, the blue uniforms!)
